Archiving Projects and Members

To archive a project, open the Projects module, select the project, open the three-dot menu, choose Archive, and confirm. To archive someone from a project’s team, open the project, choose Edit from the three-dot menu, scroll to the Team section, click the X next to the employee, and confirm. Archiving preserves the history, and a project with time logged against its tasks cannot be deleted.

Archive a project

Admins and managers can archive a project.

  1. Open the Projects module.
  2. Select the project you want to archive.
  3. Open the three-dot menu.
  4. Choose Archive.
  5. Confirm in the window that appears.

Note: If a project has time logged against any of its tasks, you cannot delete it. Archive it instead to preserve the history.

Find archived projects

Archived projects are hidden from the default list. Use the Status filter on the Projects module to show archived projects.

Archive an employee on a project

Archiving an employee removes them from a project’s active team. It requires the Manage employees or the Manage project assignments permission. By default the Admin and Manager roles can do it from the project’s Edit page, as described below. The HR role cannot edit projects, so HR archives an employee from a project on that employee’s Projects tab.

  1. Open the project.
  2. Click the three-dot menu and choose Edit.
  3. Scroll to the Team section.
  4. Find the employee and click the X next to their name.
  5. Click Archive in the dialog to confirm.

The employee’s name then appears grayed out in the Team section.

Note: An archived employee cannot log time for the project they were archived from.

Restore an employee on a project

  1. Open the project and go to the Team section.
  2. Find the archived employee.
  3. Click Restore, then confirm.

Once restored, the employee can log time to the project and its tasks again.
