HR Software for Restaurants and Hospitality Teams

The people side of a restaurant group: records for a roster that turns over monthly, permits with expiration dates, and holiday cover settled before the rota is written. No payroll, no tips, no shift scheduling — the payroll platforms keep those.

Where Growee fits, and where it does not

Growee is general HR software, not a restaurant platform. No payroll and no tip handling: under the federal FLSA, tipped pay means a $2.13 minimum cash wage and up to a $5.12 tip credit, which is work for a payroll engine. No shift scheduler either, so no 14-day advance schedules for predictive-scheduling laws. Paylocity and Restaurant365 cover those (as of August 2026). Growee holds the people record: employee profiles, documents with expiration dates, leave and holiday cover, and e-signature.

Three things this actually replaces

Usually a staff spreadsheet, a folder of paper permits, and a WhatsApp thread of leave requests.

Every new hire is one record, even the twentieth this month

Accommodation and food services hired at a 5% monthly rate in June 2026 (BLS JOLTS), so roughly one in twenty workers is new every month. Each new server or line cook gets a record with position, department, start date and contact details, instead of a row in a spreadsheet.

  • Filter the workforce by status, position, department, start date or contract type
  • Work locations per employee, so a multi-site group can pull one site's roster
  • An org chart that shows who reports to whom, updated as people join and move

Food-handler cards and permits carry their own expiration dates

The files that cause trouble in a restaurant are the ones with dates on them: food-handler cards, alcohol-service permits, occupational-medicine certificates, contracts. In Growee each is a document type you define, filed on the employee with an expiration date.

  • Expiration alerts by email, before the date passes
  • Tags and filters to check a whole site's paperwork in one list
  • Handbooks and offer letters generated from your templates with the employee's data filled in, then signed by link, no account for the signer

E-signature is on the paid plan; documents and expiration alerts are not. See document management →

Holiday cover is settled on a planner, not in a group chat

Two sous chefs off the same week in August is a service problem before it is an HR one. Requests go in with dates and type, the requester sees the days left, and the answer stays on the record. Public holidays for 99 countries come from the dataset behind our national holidays pages: check United States, Canada or England for 2026.

  • Request, approve, reject or cancel, with every state in one list
  • Hierarchical approvals: direct managers approve their own team, so the kitchen and the floor each answer to their own lead
  • Balances by year and leave type, a planner with national holidays, weekends and personal leave, and presence sheets from the same records

Growee vs Paylocity vs Restaurant365

Paylocity and Restaurant365 are payroll-first restaurant platforms and we are not. Both beat Growee on every row that touches money, tips, POS data or the schedule, and neither publishes a price (as of August 2026).

Paylocity cells read from paylocity.com/who-we-serve/industries/restaurants-and-hospitality/ and paylocity.com/pricing/; Restaurant365 cells from restaurant365.com/payroll-hr/ and restaurant365.com/pricing/, both as of August 2026. Neither vendor publishes a price: Paylocity's pricing page is a "Get Pricing" form, and Restaurant365's is a custom-quote builder. "Not detailed" and "not claimed" mean the capability is not addressed on the pages named above — not that the product lacks it, so check with the vendor before ruling anything out. Growee figures reflect our live plans: free for up to 3 people, then €2 per person per month (€20 per person per year).

Restaurant HR software: common questions

What is the best HR software for restaurants?

If tips, payroll and scheduling need to live in one system, buy a restaurant payroll platform: Restaurant365 imports tips from the POS and handles pooling, and Paylocity pairs payroll with scheduling and safety training; both are quote-priced (as of August 2026). If payroll is already handled, Growee covers the people admin around it: records, permits with expiration dates, leave cover and reviews, at €2 per person per month.

Can Growee track food-handler cards and alcohol-service permits?

Yes, as documents with expiration dates. Define the document types your jurisdiction uses, upload or generate the file on the employee, set the expiration date, and Growee sends an email reminder before the date passes. The list filters by type, employee, tag or expiration date.

What does Growee cost for a restaurant?

€2 per person per month, or €20 per person per year, and free for up to 3 people. Leave, employee records, time tracking and evaluations are in the free plan; e-signature comes with the paid Pro plan. Paylocity and Restaurant365 publish no prices; both route you to a custom quote (as of August 2026).
