HR software for manufacturing plants and shift teams

The office side of a plant: one record per operator, safety certificates and equipment tickets with expiration dates, leave planned around the shutdown, and hours logged and approved. Payroll and the rota stay where they already are.

Where Growee fits in a plant, and where it does not

Growee is general HR software, not manufacturing software. It does not build shift schedules or handle swaps, has no clock-in terminal or badge reader on the floor, does not run payroll or calculate shift premiums, and does not generate the OSHA injury and illness log, which stays with your EHS system. Personio and Factorial are strong HRIS platforms and beat Growee on payroll and on scheduling depth (as of August 2026). Growee holds the people record: certificates with expiration dates, leave, timesheets and reports.

Three things this actually replaces

Usually a headcount spreadsheet the shift leaders keep, a folder of scanned certificates with no expiration column, and a shutdown leave list built in email.

One record per shift worker, and a presence sheet off the same data

Permanent operators, maintenance, line leaders and agency labor are rows in one list, with an org chart for the structure. "Who is on the packaging line and still inside probation" is a filter, not a phone call.

  • Filter the workforce by position, department, team, status, start date or tags
  • The monthly team report puts logged hours next to each person's capacity
  • A presence sheet in Reports, built from the same approved leave and contracted working hours

Safety certificates sit on the worker, with the date they run out

Lockout/tagout training is a named, dated record by regulation (29 CFR 1910.147). Forklift and crane tickets, confined-space authorizations and occupational medicine results behave the same way. In Growee each is a document type you define, filed on the worker with an expiration date.

  • Document types you define, with tags and filters to pull a whole shift's status
  • Expiration alerts by email before the date passes
  • E-signature by link in the browser, and a Signed column showing which files still need a name

E-signature is on the paid plan; documents and expiration alerts are not. See document management →

Leave planned around the shutdown, not discovered during it

Requests carry dates, type and paid status, the person filing sees the days left after this one, and the answer stays on the record. Public holidays for 99 countries come from the dataset behind our national holidays pages: check Germany, United States or Canada for 2026.

  • Request, approve, reject or cancel, with every state in one list
  • Balances by year and leave type, on Given or Accrual policies
  • A planner with national holidays, weekends and personal leave in one view

Growee vs Personio vs Factorial

Both are serious HRIS platforms with a manufacturing page, and both do things Growee does not: Personio tracks hours across varying schedules, Factorial captures time by QR code, geolocation or 2FA. Both publish a starting figure and gate the rest (as of August 2026).

Personio cells reflect personio.com/industries/manufacturing/ and personio.com/pricing/; Factorial cells reflect factorialhr.com/hr-solutions-manufacturing and factorialhr.com/pricing, all read 19 August 2026 (as of August 2026). Personio's pricing page states "Starts from €7.60 per month/employee" for Core, names CorePro above it, gives a 10% discount on annual subscriptions paid upfront, counts every active user as a licence, and routes every plan to a demo — so the final figure is quote-gated. Its Core plan lists "Preliminary Payroll"; full payroll is a separate linked product. Factorial's pricing page states "Factorial starts at $8 per month, per user" and then directs you to request a tailored quote; individual module prices, Shift Management included, are not published. "Not stated" means those pages say nothing either way; we are not treating vendor silence as a missing feature. Growee figures reflect our live plans: free for up to 3 people, then €2 per person per month (€20 per person per year).

Manufacturing HR software: common questions

What is the best HR software for manufacturing companies?

If you need shift planning, working-time models and payroll in one system, buy an established HRIS: Personio integrates shift planning through partners such as shyftplan, easyJob and IDENTsmart, and Factorial sells Shift Management as a paid add-on with time capture by QR code, geolocation or 2FA (as of August 2026). If payroll and the rota are already handled and the mess is the record itself, that is what Growee covers, at €2 per person per month.

Can Growee track safety training certificates that expire, like lockout/tagout?

Yes. Define the document types your plant uses, upload the file to the worker it belongs to, and set an expiration date. Growee sends an email reminder before the date passes, and the list filters by type, employee, tag or expiration date, so one view covers a whole shift. Growee stores and reminds; it does not deliver or assess the training itself.

How much does HR software for manufacturing cost?

Both incumbents publish a starting figure and gate the rest: Personio's pricing page starts at €7.60 per employee per month for Core and routes every plan to a demo, while Factorial starts at $8 per user per month and directs you to a tailored quote, with module prices unpublished (as of August 2026). Growee is free for up to 3 people, then €2 per person per month, or €20 per person per year, covering employee records, leave, documents, timesheets and reports.
