HR software for nonprofits

The people record of a nonprofit: staff hours logged against programs and projects, leave requests and balances, and agreements stored as documents with expiration dates.

Growee's monthly team report: hours logged per person against capacity, with tabs for Projects, Tasks, Team, Capacity, HR, Performance, Finance, CRM and Presence sheet.

Where Growee fits, and where it does not

Growee is general HR software, not a nonprofit back office. There is no donor database, no donation processing and no fund accounting here, and volunteers are not a separate record type: staff and contractors both go in as people, distinguished by contract type. What Growee holds is the people record: hours by project, leave, documents with expiration dates, and e-signature.

Three things this actually replaces

Usually a grant-report spreadsheet, a folder of scanned agreements, and leave requests buried in the director's inbox.

Staff hours land against the program they were worked on

A timesheet week is one row per project. A coordinator who splits a week between two funded programs enters two rows, not one lump of 40 hours. When a funder asks how staff time was spent, the report is already broken down that way.

  • One row per project or task, hours per day
  • Reports by week, month, quarter or year, and by project, task or team
  • Project budgets read the same logged hours (paid plan)

Leave requests stop living in the director's inbox

A request carries dates and a leave type, the requester sees the days they have left, and the decision stays on the record instead of in a reply. Public holidays for 99 countries come from the dataset behind our national holidays pages: check United States, Canada or England for 2026.

  • Request, approve, reject or cancel, with every state in one list
  • Balances by year and leave type
  • A planner with national holidays, weekends and personal leave, and presence sheets from the same records

Agreements sit on the person, with an expiration date and a signature

A nonprofit's people file is mostly documents that go stale: the employment contract, the collaboration agreement, the first-aid certificate, the background check a funder wants renewed. In Growee each is a document type you define, filed on the person with an expiration date.

  • Document types you define, with tags and filters to pull one program's paperwork
  • Expiration alerts in your dashboard or by email
  • E-signature by link, no account for the signer, and the signed file stays on the record with a fingerprint tied to its contents

E-signature is on the paid plan; documents and expiration alerts are not. See document management →

Nonprofit HR software: common questions

Is Growee free for nonprofit organizations?

The free plan covers up to 3 people and includes leave, time tracking, documents and reports. Past that it is €2 per person per month or €20 per person per year, the same published price for everyone. There is no separate nonprofit tier.

Can Growee track agreements and certificates that expire?

Yes. Define the document types your paperwork uses, upload the file to the person, and set an expiration date. Growee alerts you in the dashboard or by email, and the list filters by type, employee, tag or expiration date.

Can we show a funder how staff time was spent?

Yes, if the hours are logged. Timesheets record one row per project or task, and reports filter by project, task or team across a week, month, quarter or year. Time reports and exports are on the free plan.
